Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some commonly asked questions about my therapy practice.  Please feel free to reach out if your question is not answered below.

1. Who do you work with?

I help kids, teens, and young adults manage stress, social issues, school stress, and the transitions of growing into adulthood.

2. Where are you located?

Appointments are held in person at my Laguna Hills office. I will share specific address information once we schedule your first appointment and begin the intake process.

3. How long is each session?

Meetings are typically 50 minutes. We'll decide on a schedule that best supports the specific needs of your child or you.

4. Do you offer consultations?

Yes. Call (949) 339-0471 for a brief chat to see if we are a good fit and to go over any questions you might have.

5. Do you take any insurance?

I currently contract with a limited number of insurance carriers.  Please feel free to reach out to me to see if I am in-network with your insurance.

If I am out-of-network with your insurance plan, you may still be entitled to reimbursement for some of your out-of-pocket cost. Please check with your plan to see if it includes out-of-network benefits, in which case I can provide you with a superbill upon request. A superbill is an itemized receipt that includes the information your insurance company may need to process a claim for out-of-network therapy services. You may be able to submit the superbill to your insurance company to request reimbursement for covered out-of-network mental health services. If your plan includes out-of-network benefits, your insurance company may reimburse you for a portion of the session fee after any applicable deductible or other plan requirements have been met. The amount you receive, if any, depends on your individual insurance plan. Please note, providing a superbill does not guarantee reimbursement. While I am happy to provide a superbill upon request, reimbursement is determined solely by your insurance company.

6. How do I get started?

Fill out my contact form, call (949) 339-0471, or email therapistmim@gmail.com. I will follow up with you to schedule a time to talk and explore if my therapeutic approach is a good fit for you or your child.

7. What makes you different from other therapists?

What makes my approach different is I that I work exclusively with young people and their families, both in person and relationally.  I believe children and adolescents are often carrying patterns that began long before they were born.  Rather than simply focusing on behavior we see on the surface, I help families understand where those patterns come from, how they have been passed down, and most importantly, how they can be disrupted. I also believe therapy should feel human.  Humor is one of my natural strengths, and I use it to create an environment where young people can feel comfortable being themselves while still doing meaningful, challenging work. My goal is to help young people understand their story, without being defined by it—and give them the tools to write a different one.

If you have more questions, call (949) 339-0471 or email therapistmim@gmail.com and I will be happy to speak with you.
